Hot Springs Village Directory

LCS Overview 2006

Purpose: The purpose of the Lake Coronado Shoreliner association is to have fun and socialize with our lakefront neighbors. Of course, we want to enhance the safe use of our beautiful resource.

Our Lake: Lake Coronado is the second largest of the 12 lakes in Hot Springs Village. It is the largest watershed in the Village (per David Harper, Lakes Manager).  The lake was developed by Cooper and opened in 1976.  It covers 380 acres and has a 10-mile shoreline.  Its deepest point is 75 feet on the East end of the lake.

Around the Lake: It contains Hot Springs Village’s only medical evacuation helicopter pad.  It has a fishing pier and a boat launch ramp with two docks.  The Coronado Natatorium and Fitness Center and the Village’s library are also located on its shore.

Our People: About 250 homes are located on the shoreline. The website contains a directory in street sequence, so you can get acquainted with your neighbors. It also contains a directory by Lot-Block-Addition so you can identify homeowners from the lake.

Our Activities: Our shoreliners have a very active social schedule. Each year, we have 5 Dock Dates, 2 picnics, a Flotilla and a Christmas Dinner.  For more details see the Social Schedule page on the website.

Boat Safety: We encourage the safe use of boating, swimming, fishing etc. on our lake. Reference the Lake Rules page on our website.  Special attention should be given to “no wake within 100 feet of shore”. Please respect your neighbor’s safety, docks and sea walls.  “No Wake” means idle speed.

Philanthropy: Our association is non-profit, but our shoreliners donate generously to the community. In recent years we have donated to the Hot Springs Village library (books and shelves), Boys & Girls Club, Teddy Bears for children, Mountain Pine School, etc.

Our Organization: The above are organized by our officers and callers. We have 5 officers. They are President, Secretary/Treasurer, Social, Callers and Directory/Website. Current names are listed on the first page of the website. In addition, we have 23 Callers who are the backbone of the organization.  They are the ones who introduce new shoreliners to the benefits of the association and keep their neighbors informed as to new activities.

How We Communicate: You can get information on our activities via e-mail, the website, the Hot Springs Village Voice newspaper and from Caller visits and phone calls.

  • Dock: Don’t try to walk on a dock. It is the space where a boat comes to rest and it is filled with water. (“Drydock” makes the point nicely. Picture the space with all the water drained out of it so that the repairs can start.) Pier: The pier is what you can walk on; it is the structure on which the passengers stand and onto which the cargo is unloaded. Assuming, that is, the structure runs out into the water, away from the shore. Wharf: If the “pier” runs along the shore, it is technically not a pier but a wharf.
